My concept is based on the football culture. I have looked at mixing sportswear with tailoring, looking at the football kits and fans over the centuries. The reason why I have looked at football is because football is a community in which everyone feels part of, no one is left out. I am looking at the slogan ‘Strength In Unity.’ I believe this sums up my collection, especially their passion and brotherhood for one another. I’ve tried to capture the energy and spirit of a football match within my work. It doesn’t matter who you are, everyone is supporting the same team. With this all being said I wanted a concept that would reflect inclusivity and a strong sense of belonging and community. I have grown up around football and believe this encapsulates the essence of unity. We all have different expectations from our clothes – we want pieces that fit well. We use clothing to express our personalities and to fit in with our peer groups, so we need clothing to be fashionable and trend setting. When we find the right outfit it enhances our appearance and we feel good and confident about ourselves.
This is my Gymshark finalist collection, where I designed for ss20. I designed and developed 3 outfits for the Train/training product area and then 3 outfits for Performance. Performance is more technical and innovative. Gymshark's continuous investment into ‘ahead of the curve’ was one of the main reasons I specialised in trilithon looking at quick and easy transitions, along with technical fabrics to have off those seconds.
Finalist in a Live project with Paul Smith Japan to design an AW20 collection inspired by Britishness. Inspired by my home town, where Isaac Newton was born and discovered gravity, by an apple falling from the tree. Paul Smith is renowned for its classic cutting and quirky detailing. The Paul Smith Japan Collectionmenswear label, encompasses classic tailoring with eccentric prints that defines the British aesthetic.
